In this new body of work Alison Bennett takes her ongoing investigation into the experience of interiority into the realm of identity and social connection. Using a variety of 'virtual reality' visual strategies, Bennett creates fictional composite portraits that blend together her friends and family. At first glance, they appear to be straightforward photographic portraits, the images are slightly disturbing and unsettling. The resulting images explore notions of collective consciousness and individual identity with warmth and intelligence.
