Artwork by Anne Langdon

This painitng has been influenced by the artist's trip to Taiwan. This may be seen by the clothes similar to Chinese Opera costumes and the Taiwan Dog "Tu Go". A mix of Australian and Taiwanese cultures, did you see at the top of the painting the Australian gum nut?

This was created after Anne Langdon had visited Taiwan. You can see the roof styles that are unique to Kin Men, where we stayed on the 'tour'.

Two Tree Badges

Anne langdon and Yang Cheng-Feng.  And they had very similar badges on - both tree shapes! How's that for matching different cultures through art!

Artist: Anne langdon
Year: 2009
Medium: Collage
Size: 64cm W x 94cm H
Title: 'Blossom Spirit'

Description: The blossoms around our country property have inspired me to respond to our exhibition theme.  I always seem to want to depict women so by combing the two aspects I have developed a feeling of dreamlike obsession with the blossoms which almost had an overpowering effect on the woman.

I initially started my art career as a printmaker. I worked on multi coloured silk-screens using the negative screen technique. I then moved onto relief prints and solar plate etchings. However in the last fifteen years I have been more involved in painting and mixed media working on both large and small scale canvasses. I also find it interesting to combine prints and painting together which often creates a more textural effect.

Probably colour has been a driving force in my work and my love of drawing.

Artists like Frida Kahlo ,Francesco Clemente and Max Beckman have all influenced me for varying reasons. As an art teacher in my spare time , I also find my students inspiring especially their cultural diversity.

Themes that I explore relate to people [usually women] and how they can interact with animals especially fish, dogs and chooks. I guess I am almost a naïve artist but then again it is hard to fit into a label!
