Jan Ross, Sky Woman Sleeping, Acrylic paint on canvas, 2010, 56 x 30cm

In Australia many people love to be out in the sun and doing activities like water skiing, surfing or sun-bathing.  The Sleeping woman symbolizes the great sky and sun of Australia in summer.  The flowers behind the woman are Australian Blossom Flowers. They often fall and regrow and also symbolise transience and the ever changing environment around us.  The butterflies are also symbolising summer.  Jan Ross is inspired by the envornment  around her and has been to many beautiful places in Australia that continuously inspire her artwork.
